MusicSorb is a specially formulated silica gel that unlike other silica gels which only absorb moisture, will absorb or release moisture to the environment in which it is placed to maintain a more consistent moisture level in the piano. It is most effective in vertical pianos and in grand pianos where one normally keeps the lid down. Two packets, each weighing one kilogram, are placed upon the cast iron plate of the grand piano, one near the tail and one at the curve. In vertical pianos two packets are placed inside the piano on the board to which the pedals are attached.
